Get Out Of The Boat!

It is time to get out of the boat! You may have read or heard the story of Jesus walking on the sea many times before, but I don't know if you've heard it in the way that I plan to break it down to you on today. I will not be touching on the entire story, so therefore I encourage you to read the entire story in Matthew 14:22-33 when you get a chance.

Beginning Knowledge: The disciples were told by Jesus to get in a boat and go to the other side of the sea, they were obedient in doing so but Jesus left them at sea all alone while he went away to pray after a tremendous outpouring (Matthew 13:21).

24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
#TiaPughTalks: You may be in a place such as this right now, feeling like even though you have listened to the Lord and followed his very instructions you are in a storm and going through pure hell right now....
25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.
#TiaPughTalks: But he hears your cries and knows that you are in distressed and under stress and he wants to provide you with comfort and peace....
26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
#TiaPughTalks: He wants you to know that this isn't destined to take you out, but rather it is designed to bring you out. There is purpose in your storm, setback, trial, and disappointment and he has plans to show you exactly what those are, just don't give up and hang in there to find out.
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
#TiaPughTalks: Begin to rejoice in the fact that Jesus has a plan for you in the midst of all the chaos that you are experiencing. Don't be afraid of the storm and don't let it have power over you. Jesus is literally in the midst of the storm ready to supply you with everything you need to get out of the boat and tread on the very thing you thought was going to kill you.
28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

NEW REVELATION: Do you notice how Peter answers IMMEDIATELY he doesn't sit on it and ponder as to if he should or should not ask Jesus to do the unthinkable....HE just ANSWERS!! Answer the voice of God, without hesitation!!
#TiaPughTalks: Pray to the Lord! Ask Him to deliver you out of the storm that you are in. Ask Him to show you that you have the power to walk on the thing that you thought was going to kill you. Ask Him to show himself powerful and faithful during this time.
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
#TiaPughTalks: But because you are asking Him to do something for you, he is going to require a new level of faith from you. When He gives you direct instructions to get out of the boat and reign in victory over the storm, please please please don't take your eyes off of him! You need to stay focus on Him because if you lose sight of the purpose in reigning over your storm you will be overtaking by the storm that you were supposed to have victory in.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
#TiaPughTalks: BUT GOD! Praise Him for being a ever present help in the time of trouble. (Psalm 46:1) Even if you do take your eyes off Him in the midst of walking on the thing that was designed to kill you and you start to sink, in grief, depression, and low self worth; due to your lack of faith I highly encourage you too throw your hands up in worship and he will be there to pick you up. When you get out of the boat in pursuit of Him he will never let you fail, sink, or drown. Do you know one reason why? because He isn't going to make himself look bad. He said he wouldn't leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6) so there is no way he is going to go against His word (Isaiah 55:11).
*I like how it never says that He let go of Pete's hand. When Peter got a hold of Jesus hand he clinged to him until they got back on solid ground. When they get to the destination (destiny) the wind ceased! That blessed me!
*****Although the boat was comfortable for Peter, he wanted to experience Jesus in a new way and because of his level of faith (when first getting out) by getting out of the boat He is the only one in the bible and that boat to have walked on water. So I'm asking you are you ready to experience Jesus in a new way or are you content with living mediocre? Are ready to get out of the boat despite what it looks like around you to be known as the ONLY one that did what you did for Gods glory?
